It's the feeling of watching that cat decide to trust people, and learning it really likes some scratches and gentle words and what a lap feels like. Trusting, and having that trust rewarded with affection, with care, with what you need to get your strength back up. It's only been a handful of months, but it feels like so much time, and no time at all.
